THE HITCHING BENCH
Horsehair hitching is a beautiful art form using twisted horse hair strands looped around a warp string. The warp string is wrapped around a dowel as the strands(pulls) are looped around it with half hitch knots. The art form is thought to have been brought to the new world by the Spanish along with their horses (of which the native Americans took quite a few).
The American Indians then took up the art and from them the early Cowboys learned it.
This beautiful art form had almost died and become a lost art, but it has recently been enjoying a rebirth with hobbist.
